The skin, as the largest organ of the human body, is both vital and sensitive. That’s why it is just ultimately important to take good care of it with the most proper and best efforts. You must know what’s good for it and what’s not.

Makeup is created solely for the skin–for its enhancement, beautification and many other reasons. Many people wear it and enjoy what it does to their looks, however, it can be risky if you have some particular skin issues that need attention. Some people are allowed to wear makeup, some are not due to health issues and some are under certain conditions that allow them.

If you have some skin problems but are permitted by the dermatologist to wear makeup with restrictions, you yourself must know that discipline is also very important. You yourself must pay attention to these 5 significant things that have something to do with the effects of makeup:

#1 – THE MAKEUP INGREDIENTS

Before you use any makeup ingredients, never forget to read and understand the label on them. Check every part of the packaging. Look at what chemicals are present. If you are unfamiliar with them, do a quick research. If you have time, ask your personal doctor whether the ingredients will be safe for your skin issue.

There might be some chemical components which are not compatible to your skin. Your skin might show some unfavorable reactions that will make you uneasy and will trigger allergic responses.

Even if a friend suggests a makeup product that has functioned well on him or her or on someone else with a condition similar to your skin, do not easily give in to using it unless you’re sure that the ingredients are suitable for you.

#2 – THE OWNERSHIP OF PRODUCTS

Makeup products are not supposed to be borrowed and lent. It’s unhygienic and in a way, unsafe too. With that, germs and bacteria can be transmitted from one person to another. Yes, it’s nasty, but not all people know that it is!

If you have skin issues, you should not share your makeup products and you should not borrow others’ too. It’s a lose-lose situation for both parties. For you, your sensitive skin might get irritated with other people’s skin conditions and the products that fit them. For others, it’s the same but if they have healthier skin, then it’s unfortunate if they eventually acquire the same skin problems as yours.

Always see to it that you have your own makeup products placed on your own kits and areas, so that other people won’t unknowingly use them.

#3 – THE SANITATION OF MAKEUP

Everybody needs makeup products which are clean and healthy to use. Specifically, if you have some skin problems, you definitely need them so much. You don’t want to worsen your skin issues due to wider bacteria buildup, so see to it that all your makeup products are well cleaned and well-kept.

Every after use or as needed, wash, wipe and tidy up all your makeup tools. Don’t leave your brushes and other stuff wet and exposed to air. Don’t just let your lipsticks and tints left open. Cap off those that need to be sealed well. Air-borne bacteria might get in and make your products truly unclean.

Also, storage is absolutely a big factor to the sanitation of your products. Let them not get dusty and dirty inside your makeup closet and makeup bags.

#4 – THE APPLICATION

How makeup is applied on your skin might also be something impactful. Don’t be too harsh and forceful when it comes to putting it on. Wiping and brushing should not be straining to the skin. Be gentle. Your hands, as much as possible, must work lightly but effective.

If there’s any mishap that happens on your skin, like a sudden reaction from the products, decide to promptly clear it off so it will not further do harm to your skin.

#5 – THE LENGTH OF USE

If your dermatologist has advised you to wear makeup only for a restricted time, you should be mindful and not be hard-headed. Don’t challenge your skin’s capability because of curiosity of how time will affect it.

Remember, makeup limits the skin from breathing as it clogs pores. It’s when blackheads, pimples, acne and other skin blemishes appear or worsen.

#6 – THE MAKEUP REMOVAL

Removing makeup must be done properly. Some tend to just carelessly remove it since “The day’s over,” and “It’s already time for bed.” Since the only thing to do next is to sleep, some might think that makeup removal can be completely done the next morning. Well, you shouldn’t.

Both for those who have and have no skin problems, not washing the face with makeup before sleeping is improper. On another note, using “just anything” to wipe it off is also wrong. Use the appropriate makeup remover products and the light and soft ways of eliminating it.

#7 – THE VARIETY OF PRODUCTS

Do not wait impatiently for the expected and improved results of your product usage. When you do, you have the tendency to try some other products at the same time. Doing that is dangerous because the chemical contents might fight against each other, leaving your skin damaged.

If what you’re using doesn’t seem to work well, consult your doctor first and leave it if it isn’t correct for you. If it does function well on your skin, be contented and observe the good results you’re getting. If you want more improvements, don’t just recklessly use various products. Check their compatibility with each other and with your skin. Listen to experts’ prescriptions.

MAKEUP VS SKIN ISSUES

Keep in mind that although makeup functions as an instrument of embellishing and glamorizing looks, it can be harmful for your skin most especially if you have some skin conditions that do not agree with makeup and some or all of its features.

The ones mentioned above might seem usual and basic but come to think of it, they contribute so much to how makeup leaves an effect on your skin and a trigger on your skin conditions.

Always think that the health of your skin must be on a higher priority that mere beauty.
