For many, summer is the best time of the year, and for some, it is not. People who love summer rejoice in happiness and gear up for an exciting time. Those who do not like it say that it throws their routine out of the window.

I think there is no reason to dislike Summer because it actually is the time of year when we can go out and enjoy ourselves. And summer does not destroy the routines. we just have to be flexible with our routines. Anyhow, if you think the summer puts your health at stake, it is not the summer but you the reason behind it. Follow these top tips for a healthy and lively summer.

Hydrate 

Our body consists of 60% of water; it is essential to take it frequently. In summers, when water is removed from the body excessively due to high temperatures, it is essential to maintain a balance by increasing the water intake. Generally, it is advised to drink 7-9 glasses of water in a day, but you have to increase the number according to the temperature hike in your location.

Taking lots of water maintains the metabolism of the system, boosts energy, and contributes to healthy skin. The lethargy and weariness in summers are due to a lack of substantial water in the body. However, drinking water can make you active and energetic even in the scorching summers. Secondly, you might have experienced that skin problems are very common in the summers. It is due to bacteria and pathogens on the skin that seep into open pores.

However, drinking lots of water can expel the dirt particles from the skin, giving you the ultimate summer glow. By being hydrated does not only mean drinking water only. You can take fruits and vegetables that are rich in water like watermelon, cucumber, oranges, and pineapples. 

Wear your SPF

During summer, our skin gets exposed to harsh sunlight, which causes many skin problems and skin diseases. However, it is also a fact that vitamin d levels increase in summers, which is good for the body. Anyhow, it is essential to wear at least SPF-30 to block the harmful sun rays from penetrating into your skin. It is essential to apply SPF on the entire body, including the face, neck, hands, legs, or any portion that exposes to sunlight. Make sure to apply a waterproof SPF when going out to beaches or swimming.

Drink Healthy Smoothies

Drinking smoothies is the best way to freshen ourselves in the summer. Make sure you make fruit and vegetable juices at your home to avoid any kind of added sugar. It is always advisable to watch for extra calories that are included in the smoothies that you order or get from a restaurant. In order to increase their taste, they may add creams, ice creams, or frozen sugar. You must restrict yourself to six tablespoons of sugar or less per day to remain healthy. Therefore, it is advisable to make smoothies at your home.  

Exercise

Exercise is an essential part of life that should never be given up at any price. Many give up their daily workout in the summer because of high temperatures. You must never give up on exercise, even if it is 45 degrees outside because it keeps you healthy and fit. The only change that you can make is shifting outdoor exercises indoors and timings to the early morning. If none of the choices suits you, you can limit the timings of the workout. In this way, you will keep up with your exercise and remain fit.  

Limit Alcohol Consumption

Consuming alcohol during the summers can be dangerous for your body. It is said that when you consume alcohol, you make unhealthy food choices. It means that you may not focus on hydrating yourself and eating fibrous food. Also, you must remember that a single serving of alcohol contains 100 calories of sugar. Therefore, you must keep alcohol away from you in the summers.  

Exfoliate

Exfoliating skin is removing dead skin cells from the external skin. The skin sheds dead cells every 30 days making room for new cells. Sometimes it sheds the dead skin cells completely, and sometimes it does not. When the dead skin cells do not shed completely, it can cause dry patches or clogged skin pores. So exfoliating helps to avoid such causes. You can exfoliate by using mechanical or chemical means.

Mechanically, you can do it with a brush or sponge, and you will need a liquid, gel, or scrub to do it chemically. In summers, dead skin shedding is very common, so it is very necessary to help remove it completely. Exfoliating makes the skin radiant and refreshing.  

Protect Your Hair

Like skin, our hair also needs special care in the summer. When hair gets exposed to the sunlight, it can weaken and dull its color. In summers, you must not subject your hair to additional heat by heat styling. Make sure you protect your hair by moisturizing it and keeping it fresh. 

Swim

I believe the best thing that you can do in the summers is swim. First of all, there is no better way to refresh yourself in summers than swimming. We all need a soak of fresh and cool water in summer to fight ferocious weather.

Secondly, swimming is a great exercise for the muscles of our body. Swimming every day can make your body flexible and active. Lastly, swimming is a therapy. It helps you unwind your physical and mental pain and stress. Swimming in the morning and evening is ideal for starting and ending a lethargic summer day.  

Soak a Little Sun

The summer sun can be very harsh; therefore, it is essential to avoid direct exposure. However, that does not mean that you limit yourself to the indoors. Go out early in the morning or evening when the intensity of heat is mild. After all, soaking in a little sun is essential for our bodies. One thing that you have to remember is to put on your SPF and shades and enjoy.
