People spend most of the time cleaning the floors. Floors easily harbour dirt, dust and all kinds of split food materials. Although, it is true that different types of floors need different methods of cleaning.  Be it hardwood, laminate, ceramic, tile, carpet or other, every floor needs a proper cleaning procedure in order to maintain it. Below, we have provided information on cleaning different types of floors effectively but easily.

Hardwood floors: The wood floors probably take the greatest amount of wear and tear inside our homes. Dirty wood floor ultimately leads to irreversible damage. Dirty wood floors are expensive to be replenished, repaired or replaced. One should never use any soap-based detergent for cleaning the wood floors. Cleaning with a neutral cleaner or a dilute ammonia solution is recommended.

In order to remove the dust, sweep your wooden floor with a soft-bristled brush. Alternatively, you can also vacuum your wooden floor but only with a soft extension brush, this prevents damage. Never use a wet mop on your wooden floor, you can use a lightly damp cloth or mop for cleaning it. Always use those detergents that are specifically formulated for wooden floorings.

Laminate floors: Laminate floors are one of the simplest floors to keep up with. You just need a solution of vinegar, a mild detergent, and warm water and the floor will get cleaned with a few steps. Never use those products that contain ammonia, abrasive agents or bleach. Just like in the case of wood floors, all these things can cause serious damage to your laminate floors. Instead of using a wet mop, always use a damp mop over your laminate floor.

Tile floors: A key to keep the tile floor looking attractive is to quickly clean the spills/grease/dirt. One should always sweep or vacuum the tile floorings frequently. This will keep the floor looking new and clean. You can even try out the tile floor cleaning machines that are available in the market. Do not use too much water while cleaning your tile floors, this may take a long time to dry and the chances of streaks are also high.

Cement floors: Comparatively, the cement floors are very easy to maintain. Initiate by running a dust mop or a dry/wet mop over the cement floor. Then, follow with a solution of warm water along with a neutral cleaner or a mild dish detergent. But, be sure not to get the cement floorings too wet.

Carpets: In the case of carpets, vacuuming is the key. In heavy traffic areas, grit and dirt act like fine sandpaper fraying the ends of the carpet pile.  Therefore, carpet floorings require regular vacuuming. Make sure your vacuum is of high quality as this will increase the lifespan of your carpet.
